Images and Reflections

In my journal I can, and do, attatch an icon to each post. Sometimes I just pick ones I like the pictures of, often it's linked to the content of the post and/or my feelings about it. So I keep here an index of my available icons and what I think of them. Where I know them, I've tried to credit the creators here - if your work is here and you want it credited or removed, please mail me and let me know.

sunshine This is from the photo Dave Sheldon took of me at the punt party after I'd just finished my finals. I think it suits me somehow, but I can't quite articulate why. It definitely reminds me of my University days (possibly why I don't use it so often anymore).

webdesigner, chez geek This one is from the webdesigner card in Chez Geek. I love the cat in the piccie and it feels right for the kind of geeky I have. It's a great game too ("I wish my life came with expansion sets").

butterfly takes off This comes from somewhere on Adobe's website. I found it when I was looking for something completely unrelated on google images and thought it was very pretty. I tend to use it for imaginative, thoughtful or introspective style things.

candles in vase I took this one myself of floating candles in a vase on my dining room table. Another one for thoughtful or introspective posts

queen of cups This is by Damian from his stick figure tarot - the queen of cups. I like it partly because of the cup of tea symbolism, and partly because of the maternal, caring aspects of the card which come through in the piccie.

hugs and tea This is from Jeremy Dennis' weekly strip. I'm relaxing on Alex with a cup of tea while he bends over me. It's my contentment picture - everything I need :)

Bubbles - determined This is Bubbles the powerpuff girl by Craig McCracken (I think). For when I'm feeling particularly determined or crusading.

Bubbles - innocent Another one of Bubbles, this one an innocent looking one. Cos I'm very innocent, me.

Me - b&w This was taken by someone while we were at Jeremys using a Mavica in text mode. I just think it's a really good iconic representation of me. It's currently my default pic.

Sepia garden gate I found this in an icon sharing community, but I seem to have lost the text file where I noted down the creators of the icons I found in those places. Anyway, I like the nostalic old-fashioned feel this has.

mushrooms An icon for my gourmet instincts, this one. I found this through Google image search on the website of the York University magazine, where it is credited to Ryan Price.

skeleton Anther one found in an icon sharing community - he seems so sad.

jasmine Jasmime flowers from an icon sharing community. I like to grow jasmine in my garden - I love the scent. I think of this icon as being quite feminine in a girly kind of way.

fire A fire against a plain black background. Another shot found through Google images on pigwar.com.

blue mermaid Another one from an icon sharing community, a blue mermaid with her back turned. She looks very isolated but I also use it when I'm feeling quiet or introspective.

rose Finally from the icon sharers, a single rose. An icon for passionate posts, or posts about love

bauble I bought this in an enormous Christmas decoration spree in Liberties in London, the first Christmas after I left home (you don't want to know how much I spent in Liberties!) along with many other beautiful baubles. I then took a photo of it in situ as it were last year (2002).

necklace Alex bought me this necklace for Christmas in 2003. I fell in love with it at once - it's just the sort of jewellery I like. Delicate, stylish and tasteful. So I took a photo of it lying on my bedspread to use for posts about how wonderful he is and any others which seem suitable.

Who's a rock star? This is the first icon I have "made" in the sense of fiddling around in photoshop to add the text. It was also in some ways the first icon I first though of as an icon. I'm not sure how I'll use it yet - tantrums perhaps, or posts where I need a bit of boost. It is, of course, a shot of Rachel Leigh Cook as Josie McCoy from Josie and the Pussycats. The line is a line from the film.

chichiro This is a shot from Myasakis film Spirited Away of Chichiro. I'm not certain where in the film this comes, but I think she's heading out to help Haku. Anyway, I loved the film loads and I like the adventurous look of this shot.

coal carrying creature Another denizen of Spirited Away. I've no idea what these were called but they were sooooo cute. I love this guy's put upon look. One for grumpy posts.

Cassie pleads for food Another Jeremy Dennis original here - from the weekly strip after she'd looked after Cassie for me over Christmas. It just catches that pleading big eyes look that all cats can give you saying "Give me what I want, oh go on".

wine An icon for celebrations and parties, or just a nice evening in with a bottle and a friend. Found on the private dining page of the 21 club by Google for me.
